Part-Time Designer

About Coffee Meets Bagel

Coffee Meets Bagel is a women-founded, women-led organization created to give everyone a chance at love. The sense of belonging and connectedness we get from relationships not only helps us survive, but thrive, and we’re working to make it a little easier for people to find that. We’re inspired by the stories we hear from employees, friends, and family who have used CMB to transform their lives, and you too can make a difference by joining us!

As one of the largest venture-backed dating applications in the world, with significant growth in both North America and Asia, we’re growing fast and need talented engineers to help us grow even more. Our goal is to create the next-generation dating platform that can handle the massive scale and flexibility needed to build an app that feels local to everyone, whether you live in Seattle, Singapore, or Saskatoon.

We believe in empowering our team to think and build big, and you’ll have the ability to help us rebuild core parts of our system from the ground up. We value the importance of work-life balance, so we offer a flexible work environment where you have the freedom to work from anywhere and coordinate your own hours. Overall, we’re a collaborative bunch who care for our daters and our team members, believe in our mission to solve hard problems, and want you to join us on this journey.

About the role:

Coffee Meets Bagel is looking for a part-time graphic designer to join its marketing team on a contract basis. This role requires availability for approximately 10 hours/week to start, and has the potential for additional hours in a few months. We are a fully remote company so you can physically be located anywhere, but you have to occasionally be available during PDT hours.

The ideal candidate is proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop and a motion graphics software of your choice. You have at least basic Figma skills, and it would be nice if you are familiar working with project management tools such as Asana and Slack. We use Midjourney to produce certain graphics, and Leanplum/Braze for email design, and you are expected to learn those programs in the first few weeks.

* This role is open to US, Canada, Singapore and Thailand.

What you'll be responsible for:

The responsibilities of this position can loosely be divided into three categories; graphic design, illustration work, and production design.

Graphic design

You will be responsible for designing assets such as social posts, signage for events, sale assets, and graphics for our App Store/Google Play based on the overall CMB aesthetic.

Illustrations

There is an ongoing need for new illustrations for Marketing and Product use, and you will be the go-to person for these. Illustrations will be produced according to the style defined in our brand guidelines, and you must also be comfortable animating these graphics.

Production design

We are going through a brand refresh and you will help us update our old marketing assets to this new look and feel. This includes updating colors and fonts, swapping out graphics, and transitioning old templates to new ones.

Qualifications we're looking for:

The most important qualities we are looking for in a candidate are understanding of CMB’s aesthetic and ability to execute on it. We are looking for a thoughtful and critical thinker who’s always able to explain their design decisions and willing to give and receive constructive feedback. You also need to show excellent communication skills and a certain level of speed and autonomy, as we are a fully remote team spread over multiple time zones.
