Similar to the approach of the Salt & Pepper Calculator, the Toaster Lamp focuses on combining mundane interactions of contrasting objects to create a new, and involving experience. In blending the ideas of two different household products; a toaster and a lamp, the object impersonates the core interaction and form of a toaster, while borrowing the utility and function of a typical lamp.
When the two pieces of acrylic are placed in the ‘toast’ slots, the object is then activated, and it’s lights will turn on. Each piece of ‘toast’ can come in different colours and patterns and can be used to change the light quality of the lamp, carrying forth the notion of toasting varieties of bread.
