Academic project to create a vignette for MTV. Using Charles Bukowski's poem The Genius of The Crowd narrated by the poet himself (audio extracted from the documentary Born Into This) along with a peaceful photo of Matthias Heiderich, the film emulates the same atmosphere of "imminent danger" found in the poem.
Projeto acadêmico cujo objetivo foi a criação de uma vinheta para a MTV. Como ponto de partida, escolhemos o poema de Charles Bukowski intitulado O Gênio da Multidão. Para acompanhar o tom do poema, que vai de uma aparente calmaria cotidiana para imagens perturbadoras, decidimos trabalhar com uma foto de Matthias Heiderich. A foto é distorcida durante a vinheta e acompanhada pela voz do próprio Bukowski, recitando o poema (trecho retirado do documentário Born Into This). Combinados, todos esses elementos contribuem para o tom de "perigo iminente" encontrado nos versos.

not being able to create art

only as a failure of the world
not being able to love fully
they will believe your love incomplete
and then they will hate you
and their hatred will be perfect
like a shining diamond
like a knife
like a mountain
like a tiger
like hemlock
their finest art
