The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs is an eye-opening, high-minded, and witty play, or monologue, rather, by Mike Daisey. Read the freely distributed transcript and it will take you to the dark, dismal and dangerous shadows from where the flashiest, brightly lit electronics emerge. It will force you to think, about the battered hands that held your fancy phone before it was delivered to you in a snazzy package.

I focused on representing: the action of turning the mirror on ourselves; the horrid aspects of mass production and the thousands of people in China forced into it; disturbing secrets; and most of all, the dichotomy between the perfection of products and the imperfection of the physical conditions.

The chosen idea is of a "power" plant, playing on two different definitions of the word "plant." A menacing carnivorous flytrap towers over factory buildings, waiting to trap its helpless prey. The idea communicated successfully and was received well, with Mike Daisy calling it, "fantastic!"

Below are the sketches that were presented to Amphibian.
a graceful, sleek swan on the surface with a rabble of furiously paddling feet below
skeleton in the closet, shown as an electronic device
power plant (chosen)
broken, bleeding chopstick, with one face in agony and the other face in ecstasy
