Rêverie | Modular Paper Sculpture

Rêverie | “The gift of an instant which knows the plenitude of the soul”

The objective of this project was to create an abstract form out of paper and to engage in a design process where there is no preconceived solution, but the process of experimenting with paper reveals ideas that are further explored and expanded upon. We started by folding paper, experimenting with size, color, texture and paperweight. My main inspirations for this project were Salvador Dali and Antoni Gaudi.

“Rêverie”
is the day dream that took me into this journey, I flowed, and the times I did not I encounter not succeed. The result of this sculpture is a long path of experimentation of abstract thinking and the discovered of endless possibilities that a simple, blank piece of paper has to offer.
There are about 500 squares of 2 inches, 100 of 4 inches and 20 of 8 inches. I put them together by sewing the corners of each modular so they could be flexible and follow its organic shape.

Construction Process.
