MTA + New wayfinding

MTA + New wayfinding
Thesis Project for Pratt Communication Design MS degree.
Presently, the volumes of transit information conveyed on two-dimensional forms are overloaded and confusing to the commuters, particular in traditional subway systems. Obviously, the Wayfinding systems in traditional subway stations are overly behind today’s human behavior. Moreover, the present technology solution cannot deal with the current limited technology condition. Therefore, I would like to harness a digital design to create a practical wayfinding system for public transportation. However, the NYC subway (14th st and 6th AV) station will be my thesis model.
Different information posted on the walls are confusing and distracting for commuters.
Currently, the population explosion and volume of transit information is causing traditional wayfinding design to lose its organization. Wayfinding design is the only communication system from the transportation authority to people, so it must be accessible and understandably comprehensible.

THESIS STATEMENT
Transit systems used a confusing system of signs and announcements to inform the rider. By combining digital design and graphic design on the platform and at entrances, commuters will be able to navigate more comfortably through the system.
