HOMMAGE Á BRUNO MUNARI

In the organization of the Society of Hungarian Graphic Designers and Typographers (MATT) 20 Hungarian woman graphic designers were invited to participate at the exhibition focusing on Bruno Munari, a famous italian designer of the 20th century. As a part of the Hungarian - Italian Cultural Season 2013 this exhibition was part of the official program of the Budapest Design Week 2013.

Munari was interested in many areas of design, he was especially interested in letters, enough to set up new fonts. I decided to create a font in honor of his lifework. This typeface was made with enormous respect for him, as he always knew how to mix design with joy.

I got inspired by Bruno Munari’s “Curva di peano” serigrafia trilogy (1991). His works were based on a geometric scheme invented by Giuseppe Peano, an italian mathematician.

I analised this system, I redefined it and finally I created a new, individual one. This basic form has infinite numbers of possibility of using, the system can be defined in a lot of ways. It also allows us to make different patterns.
