The cover design takes inspiration from the very dark tale of 'The Red Shoes', a story focused on vanity and obsession with undertones of death and religion. The idea of the endless dancing of the red shoes was the main focus of the cover, with the shoes dancing across the spine and back. The front cover hints at the glass cabinet where the red shoes were chosen, with a hidden cross in the grid of compartments to reference the religious responsibilities of the character which are overshadowed by the red shoes.
