Description
Illustrative experiments relating to tales from the book Grimms' Fairy Tales.
  • Grimms' Fairy Tales
    Illustration experimentation.
  • Alongside my cover design for the book Grimms' Fairy Tales i created a series of illustrations that could be housed inside of the book.
    The three stories i chose to illustrate were;
    The Fisherman and his Wife
    Jorinda & Jorindel
    The Twelve Dancing Princesses
    I selected key scenes from each story to illustrate and tried to make each illustration of a slightly different style. The illustration created for The Twelve Dancing Princesses is of a more childlike nature, this is evident through the rough lines and minimalistic features in the figures and scenery. This particular illustration was drawn using photoshop which is why the lines aren't terribly crisp, as for the illustration of the Fisherman and his Wife, which is of a more mature style.
    The Jorinda and Jorindel illustration has been created using vectors in illustrator which provides a cleaner, crisp finish.
    All illustration are kept within a traditional black and white format, with consideration to the paper stock it would be printed onto within a paper back book.
  • The Fisherman and his Wife.
  • Jorinda & Jorindel
  • The Twelve Dancing Princesses.
