The concept behind the design was to portray the main character using the front structure of the cube used for building the alien's ship. In a way the main character is connected with the cube because after the train crash he finds one and takes it with him. Also I felt that the main story behind the movie is about children that love to make movies, reason why the main character is holding in his hands a Super 8 camera which is also the name of the movie.
