An album cover concept for the new album "At The Heart Of It All" by Capercaillie.
Capercaillie is a Scottish folk band. Their music has a very traditional scottish/celtic feel to it.
The brief was to create a design that would be full of beauty and soul. It also had to represent a horse in some way, as the band's belief is that horse is an animal of pure soul.
I used subtle shapes such as circles and curved waves in order to give away the natural feel the album's music provides.
The artwork is based on black and white colours, with a splash of orange - the heart of the design, and a sketch of a horse in the very middle.
The circle and horse shapes repeat through three of the pages, so as to, when opening the packaging, the user gets the feeling of the centre point - heart, when picking up the CD inside.
