Each year at the 99U Conference we feature a motion reel of inspirational quotes from the attending speakers.
To push the language of the 99U brand forward we used Hoefler & Frere-Jone's serif font Sentinel. We heavily focused on typography and using the beautiful letter forms as large shapes in contrast against smaller elements like the patterns. These patterns also helped the language to take shape creating a sense of depth and negative space and in the motion graphics when the shapes were brought to life.
