Sohra
Sohra is an illustration made as a tribute to the wettest place on earth. This idyllic village is located in India in the state of Meghalaya. The landscape surrounding this place is magical and awe-inspriring. However in this illustration i wanted to venture into a different path by highlighting not the landscapes of Sohra but a thing.
That thing is the KNUP - a covering made of bamboo to protect oneself from the rain (or sun). Today it's use is seen among the villagers and farmers in the fields. In the days past this was worn by everyone from a small kid to the elderly.
Also seen here is the lady wearing the Khasi tradional dress called the Jainsem.
