William Shakespeares drama »Romeo and Juliet« is one of the bestknown compositions of world literature. Parallel to productions for the theater, opera, ballet and cinema a visual universe emerged as well. These pictures illustrate the myths of the tragic love story. For this bachelor thesis the existing symbols of »Romeo and Juliet« were investigated. The insights which were gained contributed to the development of a contemporary poster design, with the aim that the used symbols can easily be related to »Romeo and Juliet« by a broad audience.
