BOOGEYMAN is a sculpture under the theme of violence, enlightening the violence of diseases like cancer in the human body. With a starting point on the Portuguese expression “falar com pedras na mão” literally translated to “speaking with a hand full of rocks” which means speaking with violent words, this sculpture aims to translate a type of violence we can only find in silent diseases. This project is composed by a concrete sculpture engraved with a laser print image of claws destroying the skin. The claws represent the cancer as the silent boogeyman destroying everything inside the human body until showing itself and starting to destroy the outside. To complement the elements, an audio was also created to connect it all into an installation.
