Project Based Assignment
Year : 2020
For my assignment, I was tasked with selecting a designer who specialises in typography and creating a video about them using After Effects. After considering several options, I chose Claude Garamond, a renowned typeface designer who lived during the 16th century in France.
In my research about Garamond, I learned about his background and the historical context in which he lived and worked. He was a highly skilled punch cutter who created several typefaces that are still in use today, including the Garamond font that bears his name. Garamond's typefaces are known for their elegant, classic style, and are often used in books and other printed materials.
To create my video, I used the materials to showcase Garamond's typeface designs and highlight his influence on the field of typography. I also explored the various sources of inspiration that he drew from, such as the work of his contemporaries and the cultural and artistic trends of his time.
Overall, I found the process of researching and creating a video about Claude Garamond to be both challenging and rewarding. I gained a deeper appreciation for the art of typography and the history of graphic design, and I am excited to share my insights with others through my video.
