After several months of COVID lockdown, while dealing with the personal disappointments of having to cancel a global road trip on a Suzuki motorcycle—after several years of planning, I mutually coordinated a first-time photo shoot with a longtime close friend—to begin my venture into the field of travel photography. With all the misfortune that has fallen upon so many this year, I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to take advantage of this time; to improve my ability to document my future travels. What better way to start a photography journey than to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with a close friend.
Amid all the chaos and disappointment that has changed so many plans, I take comfort from a favorite quote by the 26th President of the United States: "Courage is not having the strength to go on; it is going on when you don't have the strength." (Theodore Roosevelt, 1858-1919).
