The Hot Place - No Big Wheel Records

The Hot Place is a four-piece dark psychedelic rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. The band was formed by Lisa King (vocals, bass, keyboards) and Jeff Calder (lead guitar) in 2008. Jeff Calder is a founding member of the well known new-wave act, The Swimming Pool Q's. Joined by Mike Lynn (Betty's Not A Vitamin) and Robert Schmid (The Swimming Pool Q's) in 2011, the band recorded their first LP, "The Language of Birds" at the legendary Atlanta analog studio Southern Tracks Recording.

When discussing the album artwork Lisa King mentioned a murder of crows that was busy leaving her gifts under the backyard birdbath. We agreed to incorporate a crow as a reminder of the year the record was produced. The colours were chosen on the warm dreamy sounds that flowed through the songs. The tunes stirred the thoughts of a beach right at sunset bringing the slow dropping of temperatures ending the day.
