knockout TYPE SPECIMEN
Typology book and typeface dust jacket/ fold out poster.
In this project I set the challenge of creating a vibrant and modern typology book while maintaining a timeless and elegant look. This was achieved by establishing a calm layout and typographic system while contrasting with bold colour to add personality. Choosing the elegant and classic display typeface Didot was fundamental in affirming this timeless yet modern approach since Didot also speaks of modernity, known for its use on the cover of Vogue.
The Knockout type specimen dust jacket took the vibrant and modern elements of the book and magnified them. Since Knockout is an innovative typeface which draws inspiration from boxing, it was fundamental to translate this energy to the specimen. Following my already established style in the book of using a typographic approach in the place of images, I avoided using boxing images and rather focused on boxing terms, colour and dynamic layout to translate the idea of boxing. Repetition of the colours used in the book brought the two items together.
