Experimental Videogame Book

For a uni project we were asked to create an experimental coffee table book based on a community. For this project, I chose to explore the greater videogame community. We were tasked with creating three double page spreads and a front and back cover design. I decided to employ a graphic style that melded dimensionality with traditional 8-bit/16-bit videogame art in order to better reflect the overall history of videogames. Each double page reflects a common videogame environment/theme (Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Horror) whereas the front and back pages reflect the complete journey experienced when visiting an arcade.
Front Page
Fantasy Spread
Each double page contains three famous videogame quotes which relate to the theme of the page. In this case, the fantasy setting contains famous Super Mario and the Legend of Zelda quotes.
Note: Some of the quotes are meant to be gramatically incorrect - That's why they are famous ;)
Each double page spread has a large, 'hero' text box which can be moved to the left page over the spread using a small pull tab. Doing so, reveals a contextual image that links in with the quote.

Two pull-out tabs are present at the bottom of every double page spread. These tabs reveal different videogame elements such as; enemies, weapons and inventory. Each of the tabs is directly related to the theme of the spread.
