A couple of months ago, dynamic ace duo Timba Smits and Gordon Shaw invited me to join the cast of Not For Rental, a charity exhibition in London based on those long-gone and glorious past days when VHS was king and visiting your local rental store was compulsory right after school—Oh those Friday afternoons!
With over 250 Schwarzenegger-big illustration and graphic design names involved, the idea consisted in picking a movie and creating a concept artwork for it without explicitly revealing the name of the movie, at least in the front cover.
One of my all-time favourites seemed like a challenging enough and fun choice so without any hesitation I turned all my energies on "Bloody" Sam Peckinpah's classic 'Bring Me the Head of Alfredo García', a revenge tale fuelled with alcohol, low-lives, dusty Mexican roads, bullets on grannies and desecrated graves. Oh yeah and 70s Kris Kristofferson being nasty and riding a bike.
So if you're in the London area, don't miss the opportunity to visit. The exhibition will be held until the 13th of July, when all the pieces will be sell at £50 each. For more information about the charities involved and every awesome aspect of Not For Rental, visit the exhibition site www.notforrentalproject.com
