Banking executive Colin Robertson has worked for Chicago-based Northern Trust Global Investments since 1999. In February 2020, it was announced that Colin Robertson’s firm is to provide Integrated Trading Solutions (ITS) for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), the second largest pension fund in Chicago.
Northern Trust Global Investments and the IMRF already have a long-standing relationship stretching back more than 30 years. Northern Trust provides a variety of services to the $44 billion fund, including banking, securities lending, and investment management. Integrated Trading Solutions will now be added to that portfolio.
The Integrated Trading Solutions platform will provide IMRF with outsourced trading and increased middle office functionality, allowing the fund to better allocate resources, deliver high levels of oversight, and be more cost-efficient. IMRF believes that by extending its existing partnership with Northern Trust it will be able to better execute its objectives and meet minority brokerage goals.
