The general concept drawings I did, of how I came to the concluded leaf base shape, that opens and closes. Also the base that would be able to hold the leaf up. I do apologize about the quality, this was taken with my phone, as I dont have a machine to scan these drawings.
After some more research and conceptualisation, my direction moved forward to a structure that can open up and close. I then got inspired by a leaf and origami leafs, which led me to draw different proposed shapes and styles of leaflets. However, a problem arose in regards to the center stem that would have acted as a base, but led me to conlude rather on a base which the leaf wouldnt have a centre piece stem going right through the leaf, as it obscures the movement.
Handles were added to the side of the leaflet design so that it is easier for the user to fold by hand.
A fourth Leaflet can be added to the unit, however it will cause the user to not be capable of opening the leaflets entirely like that of the above figure. But will overlap one another in a angled position, and can only open about abit more than three quarters of the full length when opened entirely.

Due to the CORTEN steel characteristics, the steel leafs will corride over time, creating an effect of the leafs under going autumn foliage, almost as if they alive and reactive to the environment.
Context Renders that show the Corrosive Corten Steel in suitable environements other than a art gallery or modern home, but rather more natural spaces.
The corrosion can be stopped if the owner of the product does not like that, by applying a anti-corrosive applicant to the leaflets. If the corrosion is an aspect that is wanted, but also would like to be protected, a Everbrite clear protective covering can be applied that will seal the corrosion and act as a layer over the surface of the metal that will prohibit it from weathering further, and also protecting users from weathered metal fragments.
