Welcome to The Eolian

The Eolian is a musical instrument and accessory company that I created based on the character Kvothe from Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind. For this project, I designed the Identity System along side the packaging for three different products: guitar strings, a capo, and picks. One of my favorite parts from this project was figuring out how to actually create the wooden boxes myself. It was the only way to get a cohesive set of boxes that matched the aesthetic I was looking for and also aided in getting a look that felt like Kvothe. If Kvothe were to create a series of products, especially musical ones, he would settle for nothing less than items that he hand-crafted himself.

Pictured below are some of my original sketches and ideations of the logo and packaging, as well as my plan for how to construct the boxes.
Next, I rendered a digital version of the identity system.
Finally, here are the finished projects, shot in a makeshift studio I had to build at home due to the restrictions of COVID-19. For my first time creating wooden boxes and my first time doing my own product photography — let alone in a homemade studio — I am very proud of how everything turned out.
