Finis Terrae is an ongoing project started around two years ago. I was born and raised in a small town in Southern Italy, in the land called “Salento”. Like most of the younger people like me, I left this dry land when as soon as I turned eighteeen. After five years living in Milan, I started to suffer of nostalgia. I used to close my eyes and picture the sea, the waves and the rocks, the wind and the faces: portraits of my family who still lives there. I always felt a connection with this land, even though I live 1000km far away from it now. Eventually I got back and I started to take photographs and to collect forgotten pictures from my grandmother's closet.
Finis Terrae is a story about this land which only lives during the summer. Locals still have a strong and deep connection with their cultural background and with the soil, making this region is a magical place where everything is still and quiet.
