Rosary & Faith Is A Luxury

This artwork has been originally created to be printed on a T-shirt. I wanted to give the impression of wearing a giant, luxurious rosary. Something so outrageously flashy it's more like a jewel than a religious symbol. The original version is just half the rosary with the emphasis on the cross with no background, perfect to be printed on a shirt. The whole drawing has been done with an iPhone using ArtStudio except the lens flares, which haven been done in PhotoShop.

I re-worked the design later in order to create a landscape wallpaper version of it. I finished the rosary with ArtStudio and added a warming red background and a tagline using PhotoShop. I thought that "Faith is a Luxury" worked great because faith is actually something that can't be bought. It created a interesting opposition with the luxurious jewel-like rosary.

Step-by-Step Process

Below is the step-by-step process split in two parts as I created the T-Shirt artwork and the Wallpaper design separately. As usual, I used a magenta background while working on ArtStudio in order to create a good contrast with the drawing itself. It's much easier to use a colour which isn't used in the artwork instead of working with a black or a white background. Once I'm done, I simply trash the background and export the file in .PSD format.
