Trainspotting Book Cover Design

Re-design the cover of the 90's classic novel 'Trainspotting' by Irvine Welsh, whilst capturing the issues addressed.

The poppy flower was chosen as one of the main subjects, as the novels primary focus is on the use of Heroin. Not only do the poppies represent the addiction of the drug but they represent all forms of addiction including, violence and alcoholism. On one side, the poppy that has bloomed shows the constant chase for satisfaction and lively drive to fill the feeling of reward. When the book is turned over it reveals the withering poppy. This represents the the destruction that is caused, not only on the surface but with the breakdown of relationships and opportunities for future progression. This also shows the destruction within the individuals mind and body. Both poppies being attached at the spine of the book show how both are connected and how difficult the struggle can be to break free from addiction.
