Meraki Design is basically my baby, my soul project and my little business, that was born in 2016.

Meraki Design transposes original characters onto a brand based in Barcelona that combines local traditions with heart-inspired artistry to help you fall in love, wherever you are coming from.

The project won the prize Young Entrepreneur Award, at the contest for immigrants entrepreneurs in Spain, organised by Moneytrans in Malaga, Spain. More info about it here.

The products are sold in shops in different neighbourhoods of Barcelona.
The logo was designed by my friend, the typographer Sabina Kipara, and you can find more about how she did it here.
Sant Jordi, (Saint George) that is celebrated on the 23rd of April, is a very popular festival, that over the years has acquired a demanding tone of the Catalan culture. The central elements of the celebration are culture and love (represented with the book and the rose).
Castellers is a 200-years old Catalan Tradition that brings together the local people of small towns and large cities alike to create human towers. These stunning displays of coordination and solidarity usually take place in the streets during holidays and on special occasions.
Correfoc is a popular tradition in Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands that ignites the atmosphere of nocturnal fiestas. It consists of a group of people disguised as devils that parade through the city streets with blazing fireworks hanging from their long pitchforks. The devils and the bestiary are accompanied by a group of percussionists. When it lights the fire, the drums start to touch also. Its sound indicates the devils where the box of the unused fireworks is, so that they can avoid it.
Patufet is the main character of one of the most famous folktales from Catalan tradition and a familiar nickname in Catalan for a small child. Patufet is represented as a tiny little boy, wearing a big red hat so that his parents can easily spot him around. He has a curious personality and is hard-working. Since people can't see him because he is so small, he avoids being trodden on by singing.
The Pajes de Reyes are the ones that are taking the letters of the kids with their wishes for the gifts that the 3 kings (Melchior, Gaspar, and Baltasar) will bring.
The Tió de Nadal, also known simply as Tió (a big piece of cut wood)  is a character in Catalan mythology relating to a Christmas tradition widespread in Catalonia and some regions of Aragon.
The kids need to take care of him, assure that he is not cold or hungry, and the Tió will poop the presents. :)
