The once well-known bakery and confectionery of Xmun Borg & Sons has now been renovated into the traditional yet stylish Noni, an establishment named after its founder, co-owner and newly Michelin-starred chef, Jonathan Brincat. The brand builds on the typographic identity of old shop signs in Malta’s capital, Valletta; various original features found in the old bakery were also recognised, retained and implemented in the brand’s logotype. This was of the utmost importance in creating an identity that combines the above with Noni’s passion and perseverance, and the contemporary approach taken by architecture studio Archi+.
Bloom understood the brief perfectly. After interviewing me, they came on-site and liaised with our architects; they analysed the details at site and studied the history behind the place to make sure the brand represented exactly what Noni is about - contemporary food with a knowledge of tradition. The branding reflects that 100%. They created a look that is timeless and smart.”
