The Love of God

1 John 4:7-8 says:
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
From dust, God created humans in His image and His likeness because He wanted us as the objects of His love. He wanted a family, not because He needed it (love is not needy), real love is freely given, and He wanted people to love. He wanted a family to rule and reign creation for His glory. Even when we walk away from Him and try to deny Him, the One who sustains every breath in all creation, even when we are in enmity towards Him... He loves us and He is a loving patient Father.
His love is perfect, pure, not needy, not proud, not self-seeking... He just loves. He is always giving Himself over and over again for the chance that we would see Him as He really is and not as we (in our sinful, fallible nature) would have Him to be.
