Juxtaposition Photography and Illustration

This is a school assignment. We are required to create a photobook with 5 different pictures with a recurring theme. The pictures have to be juxtaposed with illustrations. Outsourcing, or using anything from the internet is not allowed, so we actually had to take pictures ourselves and draw our own illustrations.

We were free to choose our own theme for the pictures. I wanted to make something simple, as I don't have a camera. So I went with shadowgraphy theme, because there's not much hassle to take pictures of shadows. You just need a surface and shadow. Then I would draw on the shadows to juxtapose the pictures.

Shadowgraphy is basically using hand shadows to make pictures. People usually make animal shapes, like birds. Here are some examples, courtesy of Google image:
I looked up how to make the shadow puppets online and copied them. I took the pictures of them in my living room with the help of my sisters. I shone my flashlight on the wall and made the shadow puppets and took some pictures. I didn't actually need the shadow puppets as I was going to draw the shadows anyway, but they helped guide my drawings and the pictures actually look nice.
After that I changed the pictures to black and white. I did this because I want the illustrations to have colour so that you can see the contrast between the picture and the illustrations. I drew the actual animals of the shadow puppets in Sketchbook. I went with painting-esque artstyle because I wanted them to look realistic. Here are the results of my work:
