Here's my tribute to The King of Mortadella AKA Giuseppe Alessio, a young boy who works in this delicatessen run by his family.
He studied at the hotel school, which is why he can be said to have been born in the kitchen and always lived in close contact with food.
Alessio lives in Tiggiano, in the lower Adriatic Salento. Still, a stone's throw from the splendid Marina Serra.
The story we are going to tell you is surreal, almost as if to say "so much happens only in films" and instead for our king of mortadella it was pure reality, well yes,
one day Helen Mirren entered her grocery store. Yes, her, the very famous Helen Mirren, Oscar winner and very famous queen in the film The Queen.
She who has repeatedly confessed to being in love with that part of Salento, to the point of moving for a few months of the year, seems to have fallen in love with this place too. Hence this great and beautiful story made of love for a product that Giuseppe knows how to make the most of.
Just Mirren tasting her sandwiches and being ecstatic publishes a post on Instagram calling it:
"The King Home of Mortadella".
