Contour Line Drawing
This was, as one might infer, our project based around contour lines. The class was to develop a set of compositional studies based on a set piece, choose our best composition, and build on it. The final product was to use contour lines to translate weight, value, and depth, rather than shading.
This project was an enormous learning curve for me because the early stages of the final product were based around me juggling proportional accuracy with making sure everything made sense within the composition's planar structure. The approach of breaking the composition into basic shapes and gradually refining these shapes further and further while adding detail was still, I think, the best way I could have approached this project.
