Columbia Picture Horror Show Branding

Instructions and Constraints:
Columbia Picture Horror Show came to me needing a brand identity. They wanted a dark color palette, and imagery that conveyed the nature of the club, using a simple, flat art style. The rest was up to me.
Solutions:
The club needs branding! A logo, ad poster, and business cards were the essentials. First, I started off designing the logo. I illustrated a skull-popcorn box, highlighting the spooky nature of the club, as well as the fact that they watch movies during meetings. I wanted to keep the style simple but playful - I didn't want to scare anyone off. I included little film reels along the outside of the logo, again indicating that this is a film club.
The main idea behind the social media cards was to hand them out at meetings. The cards would provide the members with the club's Instagram and Facebook, where they post essential information, like meeting info and voting on the next movie screening. On the back of the card, my friend requested just the logo, as well as the logos/wordmarks of affiliated parties.
The poster was meant to be hung around campus on large bulletin boards, to advertise the club and draw in members. I knew that the poster would be competing with a lot of others, so I wanted something eye catching. Keeping with the dark theme, I chose a high contrast color palette. Use the skull illustration from the logo, I create and opportunity for artificial eye contact, drawing the viewer in. Including the club's social media and meeting time and location was essential.
Using the logo, additional branding materials, like buttons and stickers, were produced to give to club members and to advertise the club. Being able to take home a part of the club makes it more personal and memorable.
