Backgammon Board
When: 2015
Project: Backgammon Board
Where: Next - Rødovre Technical School

Description
On the 3. Main Course, students are required to construct a shrine with lock, hand-made joints, hinges, intarsia and pressure moulded element. In this assignment, I choose to make a backgammon case with oak, smoked oak and maple elements. The two frames that make up the sides of the case are joined by hand made dovetails, with a groove in which the playing boards are attached. All intarsia work was done by hand. The handle is pressure melded in a mould made on CNC. I choose a brass washer as the keyhole insert, because of its simplicity and aesthetics. The inside drawer is by design a mirror image of the two compartments - one for a notebook and one for a  pen. The drawer is held closed by a magnet, so it doesn’t open when the case is closed.
