China Cabinet
Year: 2018
Project: Final Project - Cabinet Maker
Where : NEXT Rødovre - Copenhagen Techinal School

Description
This cabinet is a Nordic paraphrase of classic Chinese cabinets, typically black-lacquered on the outside with a colourful interior. The corpus is in smoked oak, while the frame and interior are made of ash. The two types of wood are chosen to create contrast in the furniture. The interior of the cabinet is flexible, as the drawer cassette and shelves can be moved up and down on shelf carriers. All handles and fittings in the furniture are made of brass that interacts with the golden glow of the ash wood, and lights up surrounded by the dark smoky oak.

The completion time was 5 weeks. In the first week technical drawings, a report explaining about the chosen wood, joints glue etc., material calculations and a time plan where completed. The next 4 weeks were focused on building the project - from raw wood and stacks of veneer to the finished product. All concluded in a half an hour presentation, with a review of the result and paper work by 3 examinators. I graduated with honours, with grade 12 and a Silver medal.
