I am creating a hybrid retail shop in what was once the industrial heart of Birmingham City - Digbeth. My retail store is situated within the ground floor of the 'Zellig Building' - better known as 'The Custard Factory'. 

The rich history that Digbeth is known for remains through the preservation of its industrial buildings that have now been rennovated into shops, eatery's, wedding venues, clubs and more. 

This bohemian district is bursting at the seams with what it has to offer to the city of Birmingham, its expansion ever growing.

Surrounding Digbeth is a multitude of Universities and Colleges, my demographic of age is from 18+. I have decided to create a fashion library and make and mend store to combat the increasing debt for youngsters caused by 'buy now, pay later' schemes that many fashion brands now offer as well as creating a sustainable clothing store. The make and mend aspect will allow cutomers to get hands on with top designers upcyling their very own clothes.

Retail trends for my project suggest a shift in the fashion world from the (arguably) once archaeic sterotypes for men and women's fashion. Additionally, reports suggest that an effort is now made by retail stores to introduce immersive experiances for their customers. The idea behind this is to bring online back to the highstreet by offering new experiances thanks to technological advancements. 

The concept that drives the development for my interior plan is the excess sewing pattern fabrics that are left behind after creating 'mens' and 'womens' clothing, combining the two creating an abstract floor space that reflects the new era of 'genderless' fashion.
