I completed this project in October 2019. My client, Shiruki Studio requested a design for an Instagram wall for their spa which offered Ultrasonic Hydrotherapy baths and foot baths. The brief was to include their snow monkey mascot and fit their simple Japanese aesthetic. The Instagram wall would be used for promotional purposes.

Three ideas were developed: the mountain view bath, a typical Japanese public bath, and a sakura forest bath.

The first idea had a cutout of the bath so customers could pretend they were in the bath with the monkey. It was inspired by ukiyo-e prints.

The second idea was inspired by the portrayal of public baths in games and anime, and included two monkeys to show the two types of bath available. A platform was added to make it look like the bench was a waiting area before entering the bath.

The third idea was to try and incorporate some nature into the scene.

The client chose the first idea, which was developed into the final product.

The bath cutaway was removed, and the wooden platform added to complement the bench.
