Campus Shuttle Stop

A prototype campus shuttle stop for the University of North Floridalocated in Jacksonville, FL. With a large proportion of its studentbody being automobile commuters the UNF campus is surrounded by several satellite parking facilities. The pedestrian traffic between these parking lots and the inner campus is facilitated by a campus wide loop shuttle system of buses. The series of campus shuttle stops, located around the loop road circling the main UNF campus, have become the de facto front gates and entry points to students and faculty who work and study inside the central campus. We were commissioned to develop a prototype design that reflected UNF’s development as a major institution of higher learning and that would complement the surrounding campus visual context. Our solution called for the use of pre-fabricated components and brick masonry to match existing campus landmarks.This combination of materials allowed the facility to be built quickly and below budget.
