Project description
My idea was to solve the daily headaches of recycling with an app that give the user the knowledge of everything recyclable or not in their hand.
My idea was to solve the daily headaches of recycling with an app that give the user the knowledge of everything recyclable or not in their hand.
Why is my approach different?
Focus on learning about recycling with how to treat each category of waste plus learn about the impact of waste on the environment.
- map of nearby trash bins or recycling center.
- camera feature that can scan your product and give you environment friendly suggestions of products.
- notifications of trash pick up in your area

User Discovery:
Users interviews.
After doing 4 interviews throughout the continuity of the project at Brainstation I learned new insights along the way.
Users interviews.
After doing 4 interviews throughout the continuity of the project at Brainstation I learned new insights along the way.
1) I learned that some specific recycling categories were more annoying than others (ex: Battery, clothes).
2) They want to know more about the process and the result of the recycle.
3) After giving the user an opportunity to test an early prototype:
Personas
I created 2 personas that I first thought will be probably unhelpful but ended up helped me organized visually the results of my interviews. Mainly it was the motivations for using the app and the frustrations with recycling products. But also there was a short bio of which kind of person they are regarding the environment

User Interface Design
Here is the first iteration of the UI, that was at that moment through final feedback I decided to go back to the wireframe and adjust the menu. The side bar had to go and became a burger menu on the top right corner.
Final Iteration of the UI
* Interaction Design previews along with a logo for the app are coming

Learning Outcomes
I learned how valuable were the interviews from the birth of the concept to the finalisation of the project.
I'm eager to test and do interviews on a bigger scale as well as writing down in more details my future project. I definitively loved the amount of research UX design means. Through my motion design experiences the research process were always limited because of due date being quite short and the feedback process were near inexistant apart from the marketing team (or client) and our own design team.
UX Design is an interesting design practice, related to tech and digital, field that I have passion for.
