Project 01: Object-ive Creativity
Alexis Palfreyman

This project required to choose an object and use that object to represent each of the 7 creative strategies which are:

1. Combinations:
The interaction/connection in between the object selected and a different
object.
Alignment: The marker is aligned with the flower stem.
Contrast: The background contrast the colors of the rest of the picture very well.
Repetition: The repetition is created by the image itself as the color green repeats each other throughout it.
Proximity: It's important that the flower is not centered to the canvas for more balance since one of the leaves is longer than the other.
Color: The color green complements the purple of the background.

2. Juxtaposition:
It shows two things that are completely different in a perspective that
makes them appear to have similarities.
Alignment: The top of the marker aligns with the top of the building. It also is 90 degrees as the building is as well.
Contrast: The different colors from the market contrast the rest of the picture as well as the blue sky background.
Repetition: Repetition is shown as the buildings looks similar to each other.
Proximity: The proximity between the tallest building and the marker is very reasonable.
Color: The colors are pretty neutral as the marker's colors are too.
3. Isolation:
It separates a certain object from its surroundings by its differences.
Alignment: The marker aligns with the chain horizontally.
Contrast: The bright orange background contrasts well with the neutral colors of the chain and marker.
Repetition: 90 degree angles on both objects.
Proximity: the proximity in between both objects is reasonable. The also have about the same amount of space in between themselves and the left and right edges.
Color: A bright orange color is the most seen in this image, but it makes the design more simple to understand its purpose.
4. Metaphor or Simile:
It gives a “simple” image, a deeper meaning by the story it tells.
Alignment: The marker aligns with the bars of the cage.
Contrast: Good contrast made with the black eye and claws and the red feathers and bars.
Repetition:Color red repeated all throughout.
Proximity: Distance between each bar and marker.
Color: Mostly red, except for the little black for accentuation and green background.
5. Change of Context/Environment:
This strategy is about displaying a unusual object in the “wrong” or “different”
environment to communicate an idea.
Alignment: The market aligns with the pieces of wood.
Contrast: The market marches well with the pieces of wood.
Repetition:The pieces of wood repeat themselves.
Proximity: The pieces of wood are equally separated.
Color: Neutral colors all throughout match well with the blue on the sky.
6. Physical/Shape Similarity:
The connection between objects that would normally not connect, focusing
on their physical similarities.
Alignment: Marker aligns with the dancer's legs.
Contrast: Marker contrasts the rest of the image.
Repetition: The balconies on the background repeat themselves.
Proximity: Distance between the marker and dancer.
Color: mostly neutral colors, but brighter colors on the main part of the design.
7. Material Change/Swap/Focus:
This strategy gets out of its comfort zone by incorporating unusual material
properties to display a different texture to match the desired design.
Alignment: Marker aligned to tree.
Contrast: Darker green leaves and brown ground - brighter on the top.
Repetition: Trees repeat.
Proximity: Distance between each tree.
Color: Mainly green and lighter on the upper part.
Working on this project helped me understand the creative strategies better as I worked on every image and thought about how each of them connected to their respective strategy. I was challenged to remember Photoshop skills I had not used for a while, but I was able to work my way through the images to make them look just how I had planned.
