Logo Design for a Bookshop

Logo Design for a Bookshop.
This bookshop has been around for a while now and even though they liked it, they knew that they needed to ditch the 3D logo for a more modern one.
The name (Lichnari) means oil lamp in greek, thus a flame was used. The book obviously tells you what kind of shop this is.
Usually I start sketching my ideas on paper, then I choose 3-5 designs to work on.
For this however, I didn't make any sketches on paper and made my ideas directly on my laptop.
All the images below were used in the presentation.
Initially I wanted to see if I can have the shape of a flame in one of the letters. I didn't like how they looked so I took the concepts and started working on a stand-alone symbol.
I like giving a name to each concept to keep everything organised.
"Wisdom" seems like the most powerful of the three because the main shapes are bigger and simpler.
Next I had to choose a fitting font.
I needed a font that not only appeals to the bookshop's audience, but also imitates the shape of the symbol. We needed both sharp edges and round curves to match the flame.
This was the initial lockup. I felt like there was too much white space at (Λ). I explain my solution further below.
But first, the fun part, colours!
My choice of colours was based on the values portrayed by the passion of learning and creating, but also on the colours of fire.
I also show how they can use the colours on different background colours while indicating the hex code of that background colour.
So, what does the final product look like?
I mentioned earlier how the white space at the first letter (Λ) didn't look right.
To fix that, I placed a duplicate underneath it, taking up some space while also giving it a more unique look and the shape of a book.
But will it pass the scale test?
The main part of the logo is easy to read even when scaled down.
The secondary text is also not bad at all, considering how light it is.
I also made and sent them the low poly background you see above.
And finally a simple mockup and some images to show the logo in different settings.
This was a fun project and the shop owners were cheerful during the presentation!
They are very nice people and I'm glad they were satisfied with the result.
Any feedback on this project will be much appreciated!
Thank you.
