Colombian National Strike 2019

In the colombian history, there was not a national strike like this. With more than 30 days of demonstrations, several clashes, and a new horizon in the political history of this young south american country. 
November 21st: Anti riot police men arrest a man that wears a colombian flag. Thousands of police men watched the demonstrations, but they were accused for their violent actions. This violence generated a new way of protest using pans as a tool to make noise.
November 21st: "Hate the cop, love your neighbor". A poster in a damaged Transmilenio station. In the background, several cops wait the end of the clashes near to Universidad Nacional.
November 21st: "I march for the life". A woman with a megaphone sings against the presidente Iván Duque and his economic policies.
November 21st: Maritz Quiroz Leyva was the first social leader murdered in 2019. One of the demands of the demonstrators is the protection of the social leaders by the government.
November 21st: The crowd shows the middle finger to the police helicopter. Some people use pig noses mocking Iván Duque, because his nickname is "Porky".
November 21st: A hooded man plays a vuvuzela over a Transmilenio station in middle of the clash close to the 68th street.
November 21st: Demonstators run from the cloud of tear gas. A strong clash happened close the 68th street, when the demonstrators tried to reach the airport.
November 21st: A bullet casing of sting ball fired by the Esmad (antiriot squad). There are several reports about the bad use of non letal weapons by the Esmad. Some reports say that the cops are using dangerous elements to fill some cartridges and fire them to the demonstrators.
November 21st: A damage Transmilenio station was painted with several grafittis. The grafittis contains messages against the police and the Ivan Duque's government.
November 21st: The clashes close the Universidad Nacional lasted until night. A small tank launches water to the demonstrators over the Eldorado avenue. 
November 22nd: After a lot of riots in different places around Bogotá, the major decided to order a curfew. Before the limit hour, most of the citizens went to the parks and started to make noise using pans.  
November 22nd: Strong clashes happened near to Bolivar Square, and most of the people decided to walk from the Bolivar Square to different parks to protest with music and noise.
November 22nd: Most of the people went to the parks in order to show bravery, because during the night several groups of vandals tried to assault different places in middle of misterious messages in the social networks. 
November 22nd: "How many leaders costs the peace?" The issue with the social leaders is one of the most important demands of the demonstrators.
November 22nd: "They fear us". Previously to the first day of the strike, the police broke into different media offices and union offices with illegal actions generating fear in the people. The demonstrations were multitudinous motivating the people to protest in the street. The effect of the government actions was the opposite.
November 22nd: The colombian demonstrators was motivated by the chilean movement. In Chile, people say "Chile woke up", this same feeling appeared in Colombia, in the flag the message is "we woke up"
November 23rd: The peaceful demonstration that started in the Parque Nacional tried to reach the Bolivar Square, but the antiriots squad (Esmad) broke up the demonstration using tear gas and stunning grenades.
November 23rd: A young woman with a irritated eye because the tear gas. Around her eye, a layer of baking soda used to reduce the effect of the gas.
November 23rd: After expel the demonstrators, the police took control of the square. Hundreds of police men blocked the square's entrances, behind them, an old man makes noise with a pan.
November 23rd: Some demonstrators ask for the right to walk to the Bolivar Square. Their petitions were interrupted by a stunning grenade.
November 23rd: Some demonstrators make noise with pans behind the antiriot squad (Esmad) trying to access to the Bolivar Square.
November 23rd: A young woman tries to negotiate with the police in order to continue the demonstration. Her message says: "Don't kill us, we want a solution, no more war".

November 23rd: A strong clash happened over the 7th avenue, some demonstrators launch stones and the police uses tear gas and stunning gas to break up the clash.
November 23rd: Some photojournalists walk behind the police with a Santa. Many street sellers had problems because the tear gas.
November 23rd: The demonstrators run along the 7th avenue in middle of the tear gas. Some demonstrators went to the Icetex offices ran away from the police.
November 23rd: "How many eyes will cost that we open our eyes?". A banner in a bridge over the Eldorado avenue.
November 23rd: A demonstrator with a clown nose and a metal jar stays in silence in front of the place when a demonstrator was injured by the police.
November 23rd: Dilan Cruz, a young student was injured by a bean bag shot fired by a police from the antiriot squad (Esmad). The shot caused a severe wound in the skull of the young man.
November 23rd: A small group of cops blocked one of the entrances of the Bolivar Square. 
November 23rd: "And viva the national strike, to stop to move forward". At evening, the police allowed the demonstrators to reach the Bolivar Square.
November 23rd: The demonstrator put their fists on the air to call the silence in order to make a tribute to Dilan Cruz.
November 24th: The people held several tributes to Dilan Cruz. With candles, songs and prays. Dilan was in the intensive care unit of the San Ignacio Hospital.
November 24th: People with different ages found in the pan a safe way to protest.The parks along the city became in protest places
November 24th: After the violence and the fear, some people started to ask the resignation of Iván Duque
November 24th: Fear. This feeling is one of the main feelings in the strike and the colombian history. The message says: "Look how much fear we have"
November 25th: The gatherings related with Dilan Cruz were located in the San Ignacio Hospital and in the same place where Dilan was injured. With messages, flowers and candles many people showed their support to Dilan and his family
November 25th: International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. In middle of the national strike a big demonstration filled the 7th avenue. The demonstration was not only about feminist topics, also c
November 25th: Feminist batucadas played songs against the machismo. The musicians wore green and purple scarves, these scarves have meanings related with the right to have an abortion (green) and related with the feminist movement and no more murdered women (purple)
November 25th: "Areperas in resistance". "Arepera" is the offensive way to say lesbian. Some lesbian and feminists appropiate the term as a protest against the machismo. 
November 25th: "We are not everyone, we lack of the murdered ones". Feminicides is a common and sad situation along Latin America. The machismo has murdered many women and Latin American countries are countries very dangerous for women. 
November 25th: There is a colloquial quote: "Silent, you look more beautiful". The society in Latin America dislikes the reports related with sexual harassment, sexual abuse or gender violence. Because of this, the society prefers silent women than reports and a strong change in the mind of the men.
November 25th: "Not one more". This is the motto from Mexico to Argentina, because no woman is secure in the Latin America. A woman can be murdered out or in her house.
November 25th: "You didn't rape her because she was drunk, you raped her because you are a rapist" The sexual abuse has been naturalized in the Latin America, and the justice justifies the abuse when the victim is drunk, or many men use the alcohol as a tool to rape a woman.
November 25th: Many demonstrators used the protest to sing against the government. Sings against the machismo and sings about the national strike was sung by demonstrators.
November 25th: "The teacher protesting is teaching too". A teacher walks with a message and with a banner against the government.
November 27th: "Servile Duque, Donald Trump's lackey. Antifascists!". A grafitti in the Bogota down town. 
November 27th: A demonstrator with a tamborine. The message is: "More poetry, less police"
November 27th: A group of demonstrators asking the retreat of the police of the Bolivar Square. A indigenous with a scarf with the colors of the Cauca flag, put a traditional indigenous baton in the air.
November 27th: "I march because Dilan Cruz and Brandon Cely can't do it". Despite the death of Dilan Cruz. A soldier call Brandon Cely commited suicide because the bullying inside the army related with his ideas pro strike.
November 27th: A pig puppet with a scarf, a spoon and a metal jar. The puppet mocks the president for this reason wears a presidential banner. Most of the colombian people think that Iván Duque is a puppet of the former president Álvaro Uribe.
November 27th: "Kill is not a sin, when the murder is the state". A demonstrator with a skull, in an allegory to Hamlet.
November 27th: A pair of demonstrators with the sticked mouth and giving free huges.
November 29th: A group of people of the Indigenous Guard watching the traffic close to the corner where Dilan Cruz was murdered.
November 27th: Felipe Guetio Osnas was a indigenous guard. He was murdered in Dagua, Valle due to an explosive artifact launched to a house.

November 30th: In the Park Way, a group of feminists had a meeting to talk about the strike requests
November 30th: This is the name of a feminicide victim. She was murdered by her brother in law in Cartagena del Chairá, Caquetá.
November 30th: A group of feminists practice the lyrics of the chilean feminist song: "A rapist in your path"
November 30th: A woman crossed her arms in middle of the performance with the chilean feminist song "a rapist in your path". Most of the women in the performance had sticked papers with the names of feminicide victims

December 4rd: In this march, the Indigenous March had the role of the police in order to show that the police caused the violence

December 4rd: Édgar Pinzón Garzón is a man that sales boards. He became famous because he always supports the demonstrations that goes to the downtown. In the photo, he shows a message related with the Dilan Cruz death: "Take care of your eyes. Don't look at least of 18 meters of the Esmad". The distance between Dilan Cruz and the cop that killed him, was 18 meters.
December 4rd: "Yes to the strike, No to the shot"

December 4rd: With a similar idea to the chilean first line, a group of young people created the colombian first line and this day was the first day that they appear in public. At the same time a batucada played songs and the crowd took photos with their cell phones
December 8th: A group of demonstrator show messages related to songs of the bands that play their music in the concert this day. One of the band: "Odio a Botero" (Hate to Botero) has a song called "Fuck the tomba". "Tomba" is the slang word for police.
December 8th: A crowd follows the truck with the artist over the 7th avenue. With banners, flags, whistles and vuvuzelas they showed their support to the strike
December 8th: A big puppet walks with the demonstrators. A man with a banner with the message: "Colombia fires the flame of the resistance"
December 8th: Some people thinks that the old people is responsible for the election of right wing candidates. The last election showed a change, because more young people voted. An old lady with a banner with the message: "I'm 75 years old, I didn't vote for Duque and I don't afraid of Uribe Paraco!". "Paraco" is the slang word for paramilitary

December 8th: Santiago Alarcon is a theatre and TV actor that supports the strike in the Social Media. He and other artists decided to create a concert to promote the strike. 
December 8th: Other of the artists related to the concert is Alejandro Riaño. With his character of Juanpis González, he criticizes the role of the rich people in the colombian society
December 8th: Aainjaa is a colombian batucada that joined to the concert and the demonstration. With its energy and its dances moved the people in the streets
December 8th: The concert had different stages along the 7th avenue, but the main stage was a mobile stage in a truck. This truck was full of artists singing and playing music.

December 8th: Adriana Lucía is one of the most important women of the group of artists that supports the strike. Even because her words in Social Media, she was threathened in Twitter for people related with the uribism
December 8th: Alejandro Riaño and Andrés López (A musician that created the "escopetarra", a guitar made with a old rifle) celebrated the success of the concert
December 10th: A hooded man in the entrance of the Universidad Nacional uses a glove in order to grab tear gas grenades
December 10th: Two demonstrators are hiding behind a barrier while the small tank launches water to them

December 16th:  Wilson Arias and Gustavo Petro are two opposing congress men that support the national strike. They hit the pans in order to protest against the tax reform
