After finals last semester we had some free workshop time and a couple of scrap materials so me and a friend decided to turn them into stools. We both made one like this. For me it was the first time to use welding for something usefull, before I had only welded test pieces and small scraps, so this was a really good exercise.
Steel rods normally used for construction, we used a torch to heat them up untill they were glowing and then bent them around a pipe.
Basic shapes are formed
This is were the frame was closed, welding the two end to each other
The legs are welderd onto the steel triangular frame
Steel work finished.
Detail of the corner and the wooden seat, the seat has a recessed edge so it fits snugly into the steel triangle.
This meant no screws or other fasteners needed to be used.
