I started with a slab constructed cup, moving onto move slab constructed waves on the outside to create the illusion of coral rings and funnels. It was based on an ocean inspired piece, so I tried to keep it coral centric, all the way down to the glaze.

The most difficult part was keeping the slab construction thin enough to reflect what I wanted, but thick enough to have adequate support. If I were to do it over again, I would spend more time on the cup because it’s a little rough on the inside. However, I’m really satisfied with how the glazing turned out, especially with the crystals, as I spent a lot of time placing the crystals where I wanted them.
