These illustrations were for an assignment in my Visual Communications class where we were given the task to create an empty focal point(s) with varying arrows pointing to it. 

The first illustration's objective was to include 10 arrows pointing to a focal point of negative space. Adding hands, arms, and appendages of various creatures I thought would add interest to the viewer and make them ask, "where are they pointing to?" By making the arrows very detailed, it gives more prominence to the empty space in the middle, thereby creating a focal point.   

With this illustration, the objective was to have 7 arrows pointing to a main focal point, while 3 arrows pointed to a minor focal point. Using the bright contrast of the white of the ghosts brought much attention to the blank orange space. Whereas compared to the 3 branches that point to a bigger focal point, your eye isn't necessarily drawn there.
