Self Portrait Collage Reflection
1. Shark, Skateboard, Santa, Red Moon, Lake, Fog, Tightrope, Light pattern.
All the images that I selected and cut from the web were ones that represent me in some way. The shark is a fear of mine and is down below, and I am facing my by going over it without falling. The skateboard and tightrope are two activities that can be challenging, but that is why I like them so I can one day be good at it. Christmas is also my favorite holiday, and it only seemed right to include Santa’s sleigh flying overhead.
The Red moon in the back is something that I find interesting and it adds an erie imagery to the photo as it is usually associated with scary events. As well as the fog and the lake that I added to go along with the shark and add a spooky idea to the whole photo. The over layer pattern is a symmetrical X with lights that has a circle pattern that seems to combine all the images together.
2. In the final image I am seen on a skateboard on the tightrope in the middle as I go over the vicious shark below.
I am in the center as me being on the skateboard and overcoming my fear of sharks is the main message of the photo.
I used leading lines as seen from the X in the pattern texture to draw the viewer's eye to the middle.
3. The writing I included was the quote “Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore,” which means that one cannot learn new things until they overcome other hardships in front of them.
