Last semester I did a series of experiments on the wooden lathe. The metal lathe is like and unlike the wooden lathe. While the idea of a spinning piece and a cutting tool remains the same, the processes and outcomes are quite different. In order to familiarize myself with the metal lathe, I decided to carry out five experiments.

 

1. off-centered turning
2. radius cutter
3. filing
4. tapping
5. threading
