My process make the mug was to start off with a slab and waiting until my piece was leatherhard to mold the cup to the desired shape. After, I added the ears and trunk to resemble an elephant. When I was finished, I processed to add 4 feet to the bottom of the mug. For the plate, I also started off with a slab and I placed the slab in a mold plate. Then I carved the two elephants into the plate and let it dry.

The principle of design used in designing the mug is balance. I believe it resembles balance because it is overall one piece and everything goes together. The principle of design for my plate is emphasis. The principle of design is emphasis because it has an intricate design of two elephants on the plate, which stands out.

The inspiration for this piece was my mom. Her favorite animal is an elephant, so I wanted to make her something that is functional. It evolved from just a cup with an elephant to a drawing of an baby and mother elephant on the plate. The symbolism of these pieces is my mom is one of the most important people in my life.

My strengths shown in the mug was the scorning on the pieces of the mug. Another strength was the crafting aspect of the piece. What I need to improve is making sure to glaze the entire piece multiple times and to also smooth out pieces better. A strength shown with the the plate is my carving skills are decent. What I need to improve on is checking the color on the glaze bottles.
