ISTD 2019 – LOST
Words of War

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––

In response to the ISTD 2019 Lost brief, the artefact, Words of War, uses historical context and personal accounts of soldiers’ from World War Two. These are to examine a soldier’s experience of war and to then compare it against the historical account. This highlights the knowledge that becomes ‘lost’ or misrepresented in modern day historical accounts.
Everyday people may have been ideologically manipulated to engage in battle and their country pride may have been a facade. Words have been redacted, resulting in lack of knowledge as to who the soldier is and what country they come from, adding to the idea that they have become lost.
